AVID

AVID stands for “Advancement Via Individual Determination.” AVID’s mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college/career readiness and success in a global society. AVID prepares students with: academic skills, content knowledge, individual determination and social adaptability. AVID will emphasize: preparation for college entrance/placement exams, study skills, test-taking, note taking and research.

There are three driving goals for Liberty High School AVID:

1. AVID Students will be eligible to apply to and enroll in a 4-year college 
   1. Students will be guided and advised on a course schedule that will qualify them for college
2. AVID Students will strive to maintain a minimum 2.5 Grade Point Average (GPA)
   1. For most colleges, a 2.5 GPA is the minimum GPA they will consider for admission eligibility
3. AVID Students will be active members of the Liberty High School community
   1. In addition to adding value to a students' college application, numerous studies have shown students that participate in sports, clubs, band, drama, and other school related organizations have higher graduation rates and higher overall GPA's.
