Link Crew

Link Crew is a student leadership and mentoring program designed to support incoming freshmen as they transition into high school. At LHS the program pairs upperclassmen (juniors and seniors) with freshmen to build relationships, provide guidance, and help new students feel welcomed and confident navigating high school life.

Purpose and Goals:

  • Help Freshmen Succeed: Link Crew leaders serve as peer mentors, helping freshmen adjust socially and academically to the expectations of high school.
  • Build Community: Through structured events, tutoring sessions, and group activities, the program fosters a sense of belonging and connection across grade levels.
  • Leadership Development: Upperclassmen leaders gain valuable leadership skills, including communication, organization, teamwork, and empathy, by guiding younger students.

Program Structure:

  • Peer Mentoring: Link Leaders are trained to connect with small groups of freshmen, helping with orientation, answering questions, and offering encouragement.
  • Social & Academic Support: Activities include social events, academic follow-ups, tutoring opportunities, and workshops designed to reinforce study skills and school involvement.
  • Application & Training: Students interested in becoming Link Leaders must apply each year in February, attend training days, and commit to planned events and sessions throughout the year.

Link Crew at Liberty is part of a nationally recognized model developed by the Boomerang Project that has been implemented in thousands of schools to improve freshman transition and overall school culture.
