Liberty Bison Volleyball Believe or Leave
Liberty Bison Volleyball is built around a simple belief: talent gets you in the gym, but your mindset determines how far you go.
Our program is designed for athletes who are willing to be challenged, held accountable, and pushed outside of their comfort zone. We want players who believe in themselves, believe in their teammates, and believe in the work required to become great.
At Bison Volleyball, we don’t run from pressure. We embrace it.
The Three S’s
Our program philosophy is centered around a powerful message from Alan Stein Jr.: Soft. Silent. Stupid. These are three behaviors we refuse to accept in our program.
Soft
Being soft means choosing comfort over growth.
We believe athletes should learn to embrace discomfort, adversity, conditioning, difficult practices, mistakes, and challenging moments. Growth doesn’t happen when everything is easy. We teach our athletes to become comfortable being uncomfortable.
Silent
Volleyball is a game of communication.
Being silent means failing to communicate, failing to hold teammates accountable, and failing to bring energy when your team needs it most.
We expect our athletes to talk, communicate, encourage, compete, and lead. Your voice is part of your game.
Stupid
Being stupid isn’t about intelligence. It’s about refusing to learn.
Making the same mistake over and over without adjusting, ignoring coaching, failing to prepare, or making excuses instead of taking responsibility will hold an athlete back.
We expect our players to learn, adapt, think, and take ownership.
Our Mindset “Believe or Leave”
There is no room for halfway commitment.
If you are going to wear the Bison jersey, we expect you to believe in yourself, believe in your teammates, believe in the coaching staff, and believe that the work you put in will make you better. Doubt is normal. Quitting is a choice. Believe or leave.
“Pressure is a Privilege”
Pressure means you have something worth fighting for.
We want our athletes to learn how to perform when the score is close, when the gym is loud, when the opponent is tough, and when the moment matters most. Instead of fearing pressure, we teach our players to embrace it. Pressure is a privilege.
We don’t make excuses.
Bad pass? Learn from it. Tough practice? Get through it. Loss? Find out why. Mistake? Correct it.
We believe accountability is one of the most important characteristics an athlete can develop. Our players are expected to take ownership of their performance, their preparation, and their role on the team. We don’t look for someone to blame. We look for a way to get better.
The Bison Standard
Being a Bison means bringing the right mindset into the gym every day.
Be tough.
Be vocal.
Be coachable.
Be accountable.
Be competitive.
Be a great teammate.
We aren’t simply trying to create better volleyball players. We want to develop athletes who understand what it means to work, compete, respond to adversity, and take responsibility for their success.
The scoreboard matters, but so does the person you become while chasing it.
